Rector's scholarship

THE RECTOR’S SHOLARSHIP FOR 2025/2026

  • The Rector’s scholarship shall be awarded to a student after completing the first year of their studies with a high grade average (not lower than 4.000), outstanding academic, scientific and artistic achievements, or competitive sporting achievements at least at national level, in accordance with the ‘Criteria for awarding the Rector’s Scholarship’.
  • First year MA students who have completed their BA studies at a different faculty of the University of Opole or at a different university (including a foreign one) shall attach a certificate of their grade average obtained for the last two semesters of the first-cycle (BA) studies, or for the last year of an engineering programme, which according to the study plan lasted one semester.

  • The rector’s scholarship can be awarded to a student admitted to the first year of studies in the year of taking the secondary school final exams who is:

    1. a laureate of an international secondary school contest or the laureate or finalist of a secondary school contest at the central level, as referred to in the legislation on the education system;
    2. a medallist of a sports competition for at least the title of Polish Champion in a given sport, as referred to in sports regulations.

  • A student studying simultaneously several fields of study may be granted the Rector’s scholarship only in one field of study.
  • The Rector’s scholarship can be awarded to first-year students of the second-cycle studies started within one year of completing the first-cycle studies,
  • The Rector’s scholarship is awarded to no more than 9.5% of students of each field of study with no breakdown into years, or the form (full-time, part-time), and with a breakdown into cycles of studies.
  • The scholarship is awarded upon a student’s application.

 

Applications submission deadlines:

  1. from October 6 to 16, 2025 – students who continue their studies and first-year students; With the exception of second-cycle students starting their studies in February 2025;
  2. from March 06 to 16, 206 –  students admitted in the summer semester.

Applications must be submitted in the USOSweb system with attachments confirming additional achievements in the PDF format.

How to correctly submit an application for the Rector’s scholarship?

The student electronically fills in an application for the Rector’s scholarship and attaches all required documents in the USOSWeb system

The student is required to submit the original documents at the request of the Scholarship Committee.

Scholarships are transferred to the personal bank accounts of students. The student’s personal bank account number should be entered in the USOSweb in the SCHOLARSHIPS tab.

If you encounter technical problems while filling in or printing the application, please send a message describing the problem to helpdesk@uni.opole.pl. In the subject line, please write ‘USOSweb applications’ and in the body of the message, provide your full name, login ID, study programme and year of study. Please provide a detailed description of the problem and, if the problem occurs in a specific place, please provide the screen number (each page of the application form has a label in the format ‘Screen X’).

NOTE: After the Rector’s scholarship was awarded, you must collect the decision in order to receive the payment into your account. Decisions shall be delivered electronically in the USOSWeb system!

NOTE:

  • The Rector’s scholarship is available to the student:
    • during their leave of absence from the University, with the exception of first-year students of first-cycle and long-cycle programmes.
    • if a student has been granted leave during the academic year in which he or she was awarded the benefit, the payment of the awarded benefit shall continue, with the exception of first-year students of first-cycle and long-cycle programmes.

  • The Rector’s scholarship is not available to the student:
    who is repeating a semester/year of studies;

    • who is continuing studying on the basis of a conditional entry;
    • who did not pass the previous academic year;
    • who has received a disciplinary sanction;
    • during the extension period for taking the diploma exam;
    • has a degree of:

      • MA, MEng, or equivalent;
      • BA, BEng, or equivalent, if he/she undertakes again first cycle or long-cycle studies.

    • while waiting for repeating the semester;
    • on leave during the first year of first-cycle studies or long-cycle master’s studies;

  • A student loses the right to the Rector’s scholarship in the case of:
    • graduation before the date specified in the study plan;
    • removal from the register of students during an academic year;
    • failure to complete a semester;
    • obtaining permission for a leave of absence during the first year of first-cycle studies and long-cycle studies;
    • obtaining benefits based on false data;
    • resignation from granted benefits;
    • one of the conditions for granting benefits becoming invalid;
    • being punished with a binding ruling of a disciplinary committee.

  • The total period for which the benefits referred to in Section 3(1)(1)-(4) of the Rules on Student Benefits at the UO are granted is 12 semesters, regardless of whether they are received by the student, with the proviso that within this period, the benefits are granted for the following studies:
    • first-cycle – not longer than for 9 semesters;
    • second-cycle – not longer than for 7 semesters.

  • The total period referred to in Section 7(2) of the Rules on Student Benefits is extended by two semesters if the student has commenced a long-cycle Master’s programme, the duration of which is specified in the relevant legal provisions as 11 or 12 semesters.
  • The period referred to in Section 7(2) and (3) of the Rules on Student Benefits shall include all semesters of study commenced by the student, referred to in Section 6(1), including semesters falling within the period of leave referred to in Article 85(1)(3) of the Law on Higher Education and Science, with the exception of semesters of subsequent first-cycle studies commenced or continued after obtaining the first bachelor’s degree, engineer or equivalent. In the case of studying several study programmes, semesters completed simultaneously are treated as one semester.
  • A student who has defended a master’s (bachelor’s) thesis before the date specified in the Rules of Study loses the right to scholarships (except Minister’s scholarships) as of the month following the defence.
  • A student applying for the benefits referred to in Section 86(1)(1,2 and 4), or receiving such benefits, shall immediately notify the university of any circumstances resulting in the loss of entitlement to benefits under Section 93(3-8) of the Law on Higher Education and Science.
